40-Ton Electric Conveyance Truck Program in Portugal

Jun 28, 2024

Project Overview

We have teamed up with an emerging energy company in Portugal to build their first all-electric heavy-duty truck, marking a decisive step towards zero carbon emissions. Our product was first tested on a 40-ton heavy-duty truck. It was then applied to AGVs, which run from site to site. The AGV is a 13-ton logistics vehicle with dimensions of 13 m * 2.5 m * 3.5 m and a maximum load capacity of 26 tons.

Challenge:

Collaborating with this company on their first electric heavy-duty truck project presents both energizing prospects and challenges for both parties involved.

The first attempt at an electric heavy-duty truck will be a learning challenge for them. Considering the parent company's foundation in development and energy capabilities, its new and recently established new energy division may need dedicated experts to plan and develop a comprehensive electric vehicle system. Additionally, R&D costs appear to be high, which could lead to longer project timelines and delays in bringing vehicles to market.

The most important task for us is to establish clear lines of communication to fully understand their requirements, inclinations, and desires for the heavy-duty truck program. Based on this, we had to plan for a customized EV system that would accurately meet their needs. Close collaboration with their team was paramount to resolving any professional impediments, meeting challenges, and ensuring that the project continued to move forward. At the same time, we needed to match existing proven solutions wherever possible to reduce the overall project development costs.
